The District Chief Executive for Ningo Prampram, Hon. Jonathan Teye Doku has once again presented 180 desks to the Education Directorate in fulfillment of a promise made in 2017 when he assumed office to provide a thousand (1000) pieces of school desks each year to schools in the district. In view of this, close to 5000 school desks have been distributed to various schools. The presentation which was made on March 16, was funded from the District Assembly Common Fund.
The DCE also revealed that in fulfillment of a promise made after the first phase of the renovation of the Education Office and the promise for some schools in the district, a contract for the second phase of the renovation is almost ready to provide adequate space for staff in the Education Unit to enhance their work, also the construction of a six-unit classroom block will commence in the coming week.
This, he said forms part of the government’s effort of adding to infrastructure as far as education is concerned. He therefore called on various companies and Non-Governmental Agencies to get involved in the provision and development of educational infrastructure as a way their Cooperate Social Responsibilities. Receiving the donation, The District Director of Education, Mrs. Sarah Adibrosu expressed her gratitude indicating that the donation came at the right time. She stated that the desks will be distributed accordingly and proper maintenance will also be ensured. She urged that subsequent desks should be mono desks to ensure social distancing since we are in the era of the Covid- 19 pandemic.
She however appealed for more in terms of furniture, sanitation, and toilet facilities in the various schools, stating that their needs are numerous. The DCE however mentioned that plans are underway for more school buildings and sanitary facilities in all schools. SOURCE: ISD, NINGO-PRAMPRAM
