November 2, 2021
The president’s nominee for Ningo-Prampram District, Hon. Al-Latiff Tetteh Amanor has been confirmed as the fourth District Chief Executive for the District. The DCE obtained a hundred percent (100%) vote out of the total vote cast in just the first round of the voting. The process was peaceful.
In the short balloting, presided over by the District Electoral Commissioner Mr. Charles Botchway, Hon. Latif was overwhelmingly confirmed with a total of thirty two (32) “Yes” votes. There were no spoilt, rejected and “No” ballots recorded. This in essence signified the acceptance of the president’s nominee by all the 32 Assembly Members.
Early on, the Presiding Member Hon. Solomon Djangmah called on his colleague Assembly Members to vote one time for the nominee since the Assembly had already called off the first date of nomination due to some circumstances. According to him, it was important to complete the process today, so the Assembly can move forward. He quoted the Local Governance Act and the Model Standing Orders that empowers Assembly Members to confirm DCE.
In his victory speech, Hon. Amanor praised the smooth process, he thanked all for voting 100% for him. According to him a 100% means Ningo-Prampram understands democracy. He added that it was important for the district to be remarketed.
He called on all to set aside all forms of partisanship, join hands to build the home called Ningo-Prampram, while charting the course for a new era and prosperity.
The Programme brought together the Regional Ministers representatives, Chiefs, Traditional Leaders, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives from other Districts Assembly Members, security, and the general public to witness the short ceremony.
The new DCE is expected to be sworn in at the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council together with his Assembly Members on Thursday.
