NIPDA HOLDS DPCU MEETING FOR THE 2026-2029 DISTRICT MEDIUM-TERM DEVELOPMENT PLAN-DMTDP
On 27th March 2025, the District Planning Co-Coordinating Unit (DPCU) of the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly held its first meeting for the year. The meeting was attended by Heads of Departments (HODs), DPCU members, and other stakeholders. Madam Vida Awuku, the Coordinating Director and Acting Chief Executive of the Assembly, chaired the meeting.
In her opening remarks, Madam Awuku welcomed participants and expressed her gratitude for their attendance. She emphasized the importance of the meeting, highlighting the need for effective planning and collaboration among stakeholders to achieve the district’s development goals.
Prof. Delali Mordegli, the facilitator for the training session introduced the concept of the DMTDP and its significance in guiding district development. He explained that the plan would provide a framework for prioritizing development projects and allocating resources. The Professor highlighted the key Acts that support the DMTDP, including the Local Governance Act and the National Development Planning Commission Act. He emphasized that these Acts provide the legal framework for district planning and development. Prof. Delali Mordegli also discussed the importance of aligning the DMTDP with national development priorities and goals.
He also outlined the phases of the planning process, which include situation analysis, plan formulation, and implementation. He emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement and participation in the planning process.
The Professor explained that the situation analysis phase would involve data collection and analysis to identify the district’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The plan formulation phase would involve developing the DMTDP, based on the findings of the situation analysis. The implementation phase would involve the execution of the plan, with monitoring and evaluation to ensure its effectiveness. Prof. Delali Mordegli also highlighted the key components of the DMTDP, including sectoral plans, spatial plans, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
In order to ensure that the DMTDP reflects the needs and priorities of the district, Prof. Delali Mordegli tasked the Heads of Departments to gather recommendations from committee level meetings, General Assembly meetings, and Executive Committee meetings. This, he said” would provide a comprehensive understanding of the district’s development priorities and inform the development of the DMTDP”.
Throughout the facilitation, Prof. Delali Mordegli encouraged participants to ask questions and share their experiences. He provided examples of best practices in district planning and emphasized the need for collaboration and coordination among stakeholders. The Professor also responded to questions and concerns raised by participants, providing clarification and guidance on the planning process.
The meeting concluded with a clear understanding of the DMTDP and the roles of DPCU members in the planning process. Participants were encouraged to work collaboratively to ensure the successful development of the 2026-2029 DMTDP.
