The Ningo Prampram District has handed over a six unit Teachers’ Bungalow to the District Education Directorate. The gesture was in response to the call on the leadership of the community.
The District Chief Executive Hon. Jonathan Teye Doku, in a speech said, the gesture was among other things help reduce the attrition rate of teachers on posting to the Mangotsonya area.
He said Education is a backbone of every economy, and the District is doing its best in its infrastructural delivery to complement governments effort.
Reacting to some concerns the District Chief Executive said the school feeding programme will soon be expanded to cover the Mangotsonya Basic School.
He added that much attention will be given to the road network from Awhiam to Old Ningo which is about 7.1 kilometers to ease the plight of commuters. He talked about the improvement in the water system to get potable water to residents in the area.
He added that as the Assembly is playing its role, the communities must also help the Assembly by paying tolls and revenues due to help the Assembly do better, he urged the youth to be mindful about the fact that this year is an election year and they should not allow themselves to be used to foment trouble by any person for any political gains, he urged them to commit their time to learn and better their future.
The Chief of Mangotsonya, Nene Tetteh Amleh II was happy about the development, and praised the leadership of the Assembly for the project. He however called on the DCE and his leadership to help deal with the menace of teenage pregnancy which is at an alarming rate in his area.
He called on the students to concentrate on their studies to guarantee them a brighter future. He urged them to eschew pre-marital sex because “there is time for everything”.
The District Director of Education Madam Beatrix Ollenu, expressed her gratitude to management of the Assembly and Pledged the Project will be used for the benefit of all.
