The governments health program, agenda 111 has kicked off in the Ningo-Prampram district. The project to be cited at the old Ningo health center, has been handed over to the construction firm Shapooji Palonji Ghana Limited. Agenda 111 is the construction of One Hundred and Eleven (111) hospitals by the government, across the country.
In a state of gaiety, the lead consultant, Mr. Larry Attipoe said, the Agenda 111 is an important project that would augment health delivery in the country. He was elated that infrastructure design and construction are maned by Ghanaian professionals with support from friends from abroad. More importantly, he guaranteed a quality work for the district since the Jubilee House was constructed by the same company.
The lead architect, Mr. Romeo Djan stated that given the commitment of he and his colleagues, they would be the first team to complete their agenda 111 project in Ghana. He estimated that within a maximum of 20 months there would be a gathering, once more, to cut tapes for the opening of an ultra-modern health facility, which would as well be, the first Agenda 111 hospital in Ghana. In his view “health is vital, critical and no one has power over it”. In view of this, there is the need to ensure the wellbeing of the people through access to quality health care and affordability.
The ultra-modern facility has a hundred bed capacity for both male and female, an Accident and Emergency center, a pediatrics and maternity block, a minimum of eight consulting rooms, an administration block, an Out Patient Department (OPD) and a reception.
Other ancillary facilities to ease pressure on patients and staff are cafeteria, staff residence (doctors and senior nurses), laundry, waiting pavilion and adequate parking space. He charged the stakeholder and community at large to periodically maintain the facility to prolong its life span.
The head of projects, Maurice Karana assured their professionalism would ensure the completion of the project within the stipulated time.
Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, (DCE) Hon. AL-Latiff Tetteh Amanor said health facilities play pivotal roles and a driving force to build a healthy community, job creation and development of this country.
To him, “the importance of sustainable health care delivery system to the economic growth of the nation cannot be over emphasized.
