NIPDA ENGAGES DAWA AREA COUNCIL ON COMMUNITY NEEDS
ASSESSMENT
The Ningo Prampram District Assembly conducted a comprehensive community needs assessment on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Dawa Pentecost Church. The exercise brought together stakeholders from the Dawa Electoral Area, comprising Ahwiam, Ayetepah Mangotsonya, Lekpogunor, Dawa, Nyigbenya, and Someh Kpantsrimidor Electoral Areas, including chiefs, clergy, opinion leaders, assembly members, youth group representatives, artisans, and beautician representatives. The needs assessment involved a participatory approach, where community members identified and prioritized their needs through a consultative process.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Raphael Nartey, and the Assembly’s technocrats, led by Madam Vida Awuku, facilitated the exercise. The community members deliberated on their needs, which included infrastructure development, social amenities, and economic empowerment initiatives. The identified needs will inform the development of the district’s four (4) -Year Medium Term Plan (2026-2029). This plan will outline the Assembly’s strategic priorities and interventions aimed at addressing the identified needs.
The identified needs comprised classroom blocks, markets, bungalows for health and teaching staff, electricity and water extensions, school toilet facilities, repair of the broken dam at Dawa, a Senior High School at Dawa, and an Astro Turf at Ayetepah. The DCE Hon, Raphael Uriel Nartey emphasized the importance of revenue mobilization to fund development projects, highlighting potential revenue sources such as Business Operating Permits (BOP), building permits, market tolls, and other local revenue streams.
The Assembly’s technocrats and community members from the Dawa Electoral area engaged in discussions to validate the identified needs and prioritize projects. Key issues discussed included project feasibility, implementation timelines, and resource allocation. Community members provided input on the most pressing needs in their respective areas, and technocrats provided technical guidance on the implementation process.
