Social Welfare & Community Development
The Social Welfare Department works to improve the social wellbeing of all residents in the Ningo-Prampram District, with particular focus on vulnerable groups including persons with disabilities, women, children, the elderly, and marginalised communities.
The department implements government social protection programmes, facilitates community-based development initiatives, and coordinates with civil society organisations and NGOs to extend social services to those who need them most. Recently, the department provided livelihood support packages to persons with disabilities across the district.
Key Functions
Administration of social welfare programmes and livelihood support for vulnerable groups
Registration and support of persons with disabilities (PWDs) under the LEAP programme
Women empowerment and gender equality promotion programmes
Child protection services and coordination with Department of Children and Social Welfare
Community development facilitation and self-help project support
Management of the District Social Welfare Fund (DSDF)
Coordination of social audits and community feedback mechanisms
Facilitation of vocational training and skills development for youth
