PRESIDING MEMBER AND CHAIRMAN OF PRCC LED AN ENGAGEMENT WITH THE REFORMED HAIRDRESSERS’ ASSOCIATION-OLDNINGO
The Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC) of the Ningo Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA), led by Hon. Addo Ebenezer Narh the Presiding Member, and doubles as the Chairman of the Committee convened a sensitization session with the Reformed Hairdressers Association at Old Ningo. The engagement which is pursuant to Section 46 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), and mandates the PRCC to promote public awareness and address community concerns aimed to enlighten the group which numbered about one hundred (100) on the various departments, roles and services they render, and ultimately to foster a collaborative relationship to unlock opportunities for growth.
The Accounts Officer, Madam Zeinab Taylor, explained the importance of obtaining a Business Operating Permit (BoP), a prerequisite for accessing government initiatives and legitimizing businesses. The team outlined revenue mobilization strategies, including payment of fees, which funds community projects such as infrastructure development, security, and social services. This was followed by guidance on identifying official revenue collectors and payment schedules, helping businesses avoid penalties and comply with regulations.
Building on the discussion on business legitimacy, the Physical Planning Unit, led by Engineer Kwame addressed shop siting and layout requirements. He explained the necessary permits and approvals for establishing and expanding businesses, covering zoning regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental considerations.
The Business Advisory Center (BAC) Unit, represented by Madam Dyna Akua Safo presented opportunities for business growth, including registration at the district level, Registration benefits including access to finance, capacity-building programs, and government incentives. The BAC Unit offer support in business planning, financial management, and marketing strategies, equipping the hairdressers with tools to expand their businesses.
In addition to the many business growth opportunities, the Client Service Unit outlined procedures for receiving and addressing complaints professionally and promptly. Madam Patricia stated, “This will ensure timely resolution of concerns, fostering a positive business environment”.
A lively question-and-answer session followed, with hairdresser madams and apprentices seeking clarification on business expansion plans and tax obligations. Group leaders, expressed gratitude, appreciating the insights shared.
The session was successfully concluded with a commitment from the PRCC team to continue with their mandate to intensify community engagements and visits, Hon. Addo Ebenezer Narh, the Chairman of the Committee encouraged the Association to leverage on available opportunities at the Assembly for the betterment of their ventures.
